Fate/Zero 12 – The Grail’s Invitation

The majority of this episode focuses on Archer helping Kirei to understand why he asked the man to expend so much energy in determining the motivations of the other Masters.

To Gilgamesh, some of the greatest pleasure comes from viewing the actions and decisions of other people. As king, he finds entertainment in the goings-on of the ordinary people, as if he were watching a television program or reading a book. Not only the joy, but the suffering and despair of others brings him pleasure.

And alcohol

Gilgamesh sees some of the same hidden deep within Kirei. The priest’s training has him condemning such a thing as sinful, but his true desire is to see some suffering. That is why his report on Kariya was more detailed than the others. Archer was able to rile up Kirei’s hidden emotions and thus caused the command seals to remanifest themselves. He then drops a not-so-subtle hint as to what servant he should seek next.

On the other side, Irisviel and Saber have come to a new base since the Einsbern mansion was so thoroughly torn apart. Its location in the city is beneficial for magic despite the Japanese construction.

In serious need of some yardwork

Irisviel is losing strength as part of being the vessel for the Grail ritual. She is constructed less satisfactorily than her daughter so the prana from a single defeated servant is enough for her to start feeling the changes.

Each generation of homunculi have more magic circuits, thus a more stable construction
